Saying 'goodbye' to the littles

Today the plan was to go visit a daycare that serves children with special needs. However, we awoke to find out it was a national holiday -- the end of Ramadan. The daycare was closed, but this meant school was out as well! So we quickly changed plans and went to see the "littles" in their new home, knowing this is probably the last time we'll see them before we leave on Saturday.

When we arrived, we could hear them playing behind the house. As we rounded the corner, Davina was the first to spot us, shouting "Auntie Tah-dah! Auntie Kay-Lee!". Soon all the children were running up to us, hugging us and talking to us in Kinyarwandan. We were in heaven for the next hour, as we spent our time responding to the shouts of our names, everyone wanting our attention. There are two new lkittle ones at the house, brought from Musanze to go to school with them. So now we had EIGHT little ones vying for our affections! When we arrived, the house was in pristine condition. Faith says it's very cultural that the house stays clean and all toys put away, but that means the children don't get to play with any of their things. That quickly changed when she arrived, pulling out all the toys and creating chaos! We had tickle wars, played games, did puzzles, threw frisbees, drove trucks and they put on their uniforms  -- they LOVE going to school and are so proud of their uniforms! During lunch we heard a little voice singing... a song we'd sung them the first day we arrived! Imagine our giggles as we hear them (in their accents) singing "I like to eat, eat, eat, apples and bananas..." Haha! The visit was so very bittersweet. It wonderful to see them again, but all the while knowing this may very well be the last time we'll see their adorable smiling faces.
